TAG Reasoning

In 2006, a good friend of ours introduced us to MOP. In memory of her father, her family had started supporting the orphanage MOP was running in Mutundwe, in the Mengo-Kisenyi slums of Kampala, Uganda, called the Good Shepherd Home. Our friend thought we might like to come visit and maybe get involved somehow. So went for a visit and were warmly welcomed by all. The volunteers at MOP, we noticed, do what they do straight from the heart, rewarded only by self-respect, and attend to the many needs of their community, which include orphan children, the elderly, and people who need special physical- and emotional care. The place is super clean, brightly coloured, and oozes a sense of mutual communal support not found in too many places. They won our trust and we decided we’ll start doing whatever we can. And thus, a drive to keep the children in school began. Meanwhile, we also hope to address many of their health issues, including day-to-day care and counseling.
